In February of 1989 I got the opportunity to go flying on a sightseeing trip around Mt. Cook, which is on the South Island of New Zealand. It was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse. During this time period, I was receiving mountaineering information from a variety of sources, including newspapers, magazines, newsletters, books and word of mouth.
