The Goodwill Games were hosted by Seattle between 20 July and 5 Aug 1990. Ted Turner was key toward bringing the games to Seattle [some events were held outside of the Seattle area]. More than 2300 athletes from 54 countries participated in 21 sports. Wayne spectated at the Track & Field events, and the Men’s and Women’s marathon; the events were found to be very inspirational. And Husky Stadium provided a good setting for the Track & Field events. The marathons started near Husky Stadium. Although the upper level seats at Husky Stadium were not used for the track meets, there was good attendance in the lower seating levels of the stadium during the track competition. TBS televised the games.
