As recorded in Wayne’s Journal, I (Wayne) was a spectator at the 1993 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which were held in New Orleans, Louisiana between June 2, and June 5, 1993.
I picked up a car rental at the airport in New Orleans on June 1st. I then drove to downtown New Orleans and checked into a hotel. Afterward, I took a bus downtown and visited the Bourbon St. District. I had my Canon TLb camera with me, and I used slide film during this trip.
On June 2nd, I checked out the Riverwalk, where I had breakfast and read the newspaper.
On June 3rd, I went for a ride on a riverboat. We went up river for an hour before turning around. I learned some things about Civil War history; they served a nice “creole” dinner during the ride.
The following day (June 4th) I had a nice dinner at a restaurant in the French Quarter. I ordered a Cajun style Gulf Shrimp meal.
June 5th was the final day of competition of the NCAA Championships meet. I went to the French Market and checked out the “Tomato Festival” that day.
On June 6th, I dropped the car rental off, and then went to the airport. For breakfast I had a French pastry and coffee. My flight to Seattle departed at 7:25 am.
