Redwoods at Stout Memorial Grove
“The Golden State”
In August, 2017, I (Wayne) visited the Northern California Redwoods with a friend. California is known as ‘The Golden State’, and when we crossed the Klamath River, it did not go unnoticed that there was a Golden Bear on the bridge (see Note 6).
In December, 2011, I went to San Francisco (see Note 5) for a short vacation. On this trip I visited the Fisherman’s Wharf district. It was nice to see it lit up during Christmas time. And also ride on the Cable Cars.
Prior to that, I was in California in ’98 when I attended the Rose Bowl (see Note 2). This was WSU’s first trip to the Rose Bowl since the ‘30s.
I attended the Pac-10 Outdoor Track & Field Cmanpionships in ’93. During this trip, my Dad (Vermont) and I drove to San Francisco from Seattle (see Note 3).
Additionally, I attended the Rose Bowl in ’92 (see Note 4). Finally, I have fond memories of visiting Disneyland when I was young.
