A B.C steelhead
About British Columbia
In July1981, I had the opportunity to take a multi-day trip to Northern BC via float plane w/ 2 other people. We crossed the Coastal Range, which was tricky. And we flew past the impressive Mt. Waddington to Burns Lake [stopped for gas]. We flew over Smithers, Hazelton, and then up the Cassiar Hwy. I was the navigator; at times it was difficult because there are so many lakes in B.C. The Coastal Range of BC is spectacular! We flew around Mt. Edziza, which is a geologist’s dream. A cinder cone looked like it was active yesterday. We saw mountain sheep, goats and moose from the airplane. I knew I would have to return someday to explore this area further. I took a similar, but scaled down float plane trip to BC in 1977 also. In 1981 I drove the "AlCan Highway" with a friend.
