BC Glaciers 1A

Glaciers near Stewart, B.C.

I got a tip from Nik to check out the glaciers near Stewart, B.C. They did not disappoint. One can pick up the “Salmon Glacier Self Guided Auto Tour” at several businesses in Stewart. It is worth having, prior to driving to the Summit Viewpoint at 22.9 mile marker. This provides a wonderful view overlooking the Salmon Glacier, which is the 5th largest glacier in Canada. It is worthwhile to continue about 7 miles beyond to the Berendon Glacier/Granduc Minesite viewpoint, The road is a mining road; a 4X4 is not required, but is helpful. Because the road gains much elevation, the views are sometimes similar to being in a plane.
